You probably wouldn’t expect to find artefacts from Etruria or even Magna Graecia in a museum in Friuli. Yet this is exactly what you discover in the museum’s final room, which displays two collections acquired from private owners: on one side, Etruscan vessels — especially fine bucchero ware — donated by the opera singer Mafalda Micheluzzi (1922–2013); on the other, a group of vases and other ceramic finds from sanctuaries in the area of Metaponto or Taranto. These collections allow you to broaden your view of the archaeological past to other parts of the peninsula.
